IPSEA's Foundation modules cover the law relating to the education and training of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
These modules are designed as an introduction to SEND Law for parents and carers of children and young people with SEND, as well as those who support them (including Teachers, School Governors, SENCOs, Learning Support Assistants and support groups).
To take part in this e-learning you need to complete the following 3 steps:
Purchase your Foundation and updates package. We run through purchases every morning at the IPSEA office. Please allow up to 72 hours for your purchase to be fulfilled on Shopify.
- We will set you up with an account on LearnUpon (our online learning platform) and enrol you on our Foundation online learning for your to begin at your convenience, and email login details.
Once these 2 steps have all been completed, we will send you information about getting started with your e-learning. For help with registration, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.

Foundation module 2: The duties on local authorities
Foundation module 3: The duties on schools and further education institutions
Foundation module 4: Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments
Foundation module 5: EHC plans
Foundation module 6: Naming a school or FE institution in an EHC plan
Foundation module 7: Personal budgets and direct payments
Foundation module 8: Changing plans (including annual review, transfer and ceasing to maintain an EHC plan)
Foundation module 9: Mediation and the SEND tribunal
